The question "Will Carrara allow me to do this?" can be answered "Yes." I do it, and I have talked to at least two other people who do it. The unasked question, "Is Carrara the best program for this?" I can't answer. Making Poser clothing, as I may have mentioned before, is only a little short of making fully-rigged figures, and that's some of the most complex stuff you can do in 3d. On the other hand, I learned it, so it can't be THAT tough! I'd suggest grabbing a couple of demos and some of the excellent free sofware -- like Wings -- and just starting to model stuff. You may find out you hate modelling, or you may find out you are a natural modeller. Or you may find out that making buildings or military vehicles is so much fun, clothing is no longer attractive. After you've gotten your feet wet in modelling you can start looking at the various excellent tutorials, books, training aids, and see what is involved in creating clothing for Poser. I think most of us here agree that Carrara is a very friendly modeller for a beginner. Whether it suits your needs is something for you to learn down the road.
