I'd recommend the book, certainly. Deleting stuff from a CR2 is usually non-intuitive. In your example, I'd suggest that you keep the actor hierarchy leading back to the chest at least, even though there aren't any visible body parts. The Poser voodoo seems to work better that way. :)
