Another way, perhaps, would be to do an altitude mask render of the two terrains, bring the result into PhotoShop and get rid of the seam, then import back into the terrain editor. You'll need to increase the size of the grid in your original terrains, and the size of the render, so you don't lose definition. Don't forget to untick 'altitude mask' in the render options, after you've got the altitude render you need!
