You might try running it through Accu-Trans. (See link.) Accu-Trans is a program that converts among 3D formats. A sort of poor man's PolyTrans. It's free to try, $20 to buy - on the honor system. The free download is not crippled in any way. I've found it can often fix 3DS files that won't import into Poser.
