OREM, UT: For immediate release Speculation ended today when it was announced that Microsoft (MCSFT) has purchased the 3-d content provider DAZ, Inc (DAZ3D). DAZ's 3-d software application will be renamed "MS Studio" and will become part of Microsoft's Office suite of programs. Plans are already underway to link Studio to other Office programs: a user will be able create a database in Access, mail merge it into Word and then render it in Studio. Accountants will be able to take their spreadsheets from Excel into Studio and create full 3-d models of their data. Of course, these models can then be brought into PowerPoint for presentations or into FrontPage for publishing to the web. As for the Mac version of Studio, a Microsoft represntative had this to say, on condition of anonymity: "Windows is the future. Choice is irrelevant. Resistance is futile."
