The maximum working window size depends on the resolution you're working with. I can set a working window size of 1585 x 1190 (at a screen resolution of 1600 x 1200). Render to new window can render to sizes almost as big as you want (depends on your amount of RAM) but I've seen sizes of up to 4000 x 4000 pixels! So you can make the final render almost as big as you want. Caveat- watch the background pictures, they might get really blocky and ugly. It's usually better to add a background pic in postwork.
