Will it look like the puppy is standing in the sand? You can import the render from Bryce as a JPG, and then create a ground plane under the puppy in Poser. Assuming you have Poser 5, you can use Stewer's "mat" material to make the ground transparent, but still recieve shadows. With proper lighting, it would work well.
