Information about popularity of items never makes it back to the person who created it... which is especially bad if someone intends to sell similar stuff." The responsibility lies with whoever shares the files, no? If they get stupid and share the wrong ones, that's their problem, not that of the technology itself. And IMHO, if someone wants an ego kick so badly that they have to count and control every item they put out for free, then perhaps they're doing it for the wrong reasons? (shrug) /P
