The G.I.R.L. is an outstanding piece of work obviously. Not for the modeling or the rigging, though those are really sweet, but for the style it brings.
So far, none of the toon characters in the poser world really come close to the style that inspired the trend. To be fair, some of them are excellent examples of a different style (Staci and Koshini come to mind) but I find some of the toon characters to be unattractive or (no offense) somewhat badly modeled. Doing a figure like "The GIRL" correctly is every bit as demanding as doing a realistic character - it is not an excuse to rush something out.
Anyway, there is a lot of great information on the process over in the CG Channel thread. One of the awesome things about that forum is how much WIP people post and the general skill level of the responses. The overwhelming peer pressure of having all that talent there tends to make people be quiet unless the can be polite and say something smart. Piss someone off on CGchannel might be losing a future paycheck :)
The system isn't perfect though in case anyone thought we just wind up hearing this sort of thing on this forum...

*"er...hmmm...excellent modeling..but why the typical naked young(if not borderline child ) woman......it makes me wonder if the majority of people here are sexually frustrated, or lack the ability to talk to real girls, because the majority would probably find this a little sad..
But hey, each to their own.. and again well impressive skills ..
I'm sure you'll make a lot of boys very happy, at home.....alone....with noone watching....oooh u dirty man!... :0"*

*Hi I've been thinking also about putting her on turbo squid or E-bay, but I'm not going to do this.
There are 2 reasons for that.
If I do this i'm afraid some people are going to spread some vulgar images and animations of her. She is not intended for such content. The short I'm going to create with her is an attempt to create a subtile erotic story.
The second reason is because the model is not finished, I'm not going to give an incomplete model away.*
As a side note Kim used Maya for to model her. God bless him cause I really, really don't gel with the Maya history tools. I know, it's an awesome tool and I am taking nothing away from it at all... I have seen amazing work done in Maya. Personally I am much, much happier with the stack on 3DS Max. I see so many people posting that they accidentally blew away their history (and thus are stuck with a static model they can no longer easily change) it actually blows me away when someone does something like this in it. Fortunately nothing about her or the information he gives is Maya specific.
On the other hand he exported her to Max to rig and animate so I guess no one gets to use her as a pure trophy in a software war :)

"The reason that I've rigged her in Max instead of lightwave, is because actually know max better now than Lightwave layout. This has grown over the past few years because I felt max gave me more control for animation and shading."
