*"Both Alexe and Neftoon Gal haven't caught on in the poser community much, for some reason.
I think Sara (original) is more popular then both, and really wonder how the new Stacie will fare."*
I just didn't find any of them particularly interesting - of the lot I like Staci best.. That's not intended as a slap at anyone... it's just an opinion. I know a lot of work went into them. Something like GIRL takes months of devoted work on just the mesh, very few poser figures get that kind of attention.
I think people are starting to see this. I hope people will start to really demand that a figure be well done, have a distinct personality and actually have strong support. Again, no offense.
"I just don't WANT to have to spend a full week on an outift that might be used on a character once. If these characters were morphs of a base character, then at least the cloths could be used from character to character."
Dynamic clothing. The technology is there it just hasn't been used and exploited. There is simply no excuse any more.
"I will agree with Garee on this point..WAY too MANY characters coming out as of late and quite frankly my wallet can only take so much."
I only buy when I can pass the cost directly on to a client these days. I am hoping the economics (many figures) will drive SOMEONE to take a chance and make good clothing. I'd gladly pay $49.00 for a good jeans/t-shirt/sweatshirt/sneakers set that used dynamic cloth to good effect.
"but have UGLY bodies"
Without getting specific it seems that the term "toon" has come to be synonymous with "thrown together fast, low poly and lumpy, featureless mesh". It's as if because it doesn't have to look real it doesn't have to look good.
Every time someone says "What is special about G.I.R.L., she's just another toon..." I want to scream "don't you see it? Like her or hate her she is alive and well done."
