This is an interesting problem. Anubis, here are three versions of a jet blast object for you that might serve your needs. (And for anyone else who wants them.) The problem with fire and blasts are that they are best represented with particles - not something easily modeled and something that always has relatively high polygon counts. Here, I generated some particles in a professional program called Realflow, then flattened them so that they would catch light fairly well. I tapered them into a reasonable shape, and finally, "thinned" the first one (blast1) into two versions with increasingly smaller polygon counts. I "opened up" the top end a little to allow you to position lights in a realistic manner. These are now "truespace" objects, but they'll import into Vue just fine! Now, you can simply apply a colored glass (the yellow and red mix of colors) material in them to get reasonable results. Also, you can now light them up any way your scene requires to get some very interesting results. The smallest object is about 9,000 polygons - it's probably best. You can re-scale this in any way you like to make it long or short or big or little. So, Anubis, if you find these useful, can you post a picture here for us so that we can see if these work for you?
