The basic note duration in (classical) music notation is the "breve". 1/2 a breve = a semibreve 1/2 a semibreve = a minim 1/2 a minim = a crotchet 1/2 a crotchet = a quaver 1/2 a quaver = a semiquaver 1/2 a semiquaver = a demisemiquaver 1/2 a demisemiquaver = a hemidemisemiquaver 1/2 a hemidemisemiquaver = a Naysay guy's brain capacity" True enough about the Breve, but without a reference it's not telling anyone much. The Breve is a note of 2 bars duration. Which is damn strange when you think about it.
