Subject: Ok, subspacegraphics.com is terminated!

And has changed to www.rochr.com :) My older idiot web providor is apparently having a hard time letting the name go, so i got myself a new one. Anyway, just thought ild tell those who visit and/or have links to it in case you need to change something. Subspacegraphics.com will still work for the rest of the year though. :)

If you are the registered owner, the web host cannot keep the name. You as owner can just switch the name servers.I made sure I was the register owner, admin and tech contact when I bought my domain, that way the web host can't do squat when I move to a new host....

rochr.com sounds cool - congrats!

Zhann, youre right, and i could most likely move the domain after about 50 emails or so, but i had a free name at my current host and was planning to change it anyway. :)

The old host was the same one that kicked me out because of too much traffic, and then wanted to charge me for webspace i didnt have anymore, almost a year after.
Hence the word "idiots"... :)

Er, no, not 50 mails. Just set the DNS of your new host as the DNS for subspacegraphics.com. You could probably set the redirect. Argh. You are not listed as the owner of the rochr.com name! Unlike subspacegraphics.com where you are. (And where you can do whatever you want with the name.) Your new host looks very suspicious, what with the PO box as their address and not immediately registering you as the owner of the domain... HELL! "[...] this will be your free domain name for as long as you remain a fully paid client and continue to host your domain name with us." Rudy, I'm really sorry to say that you've lost your nick as the domain name. They are the owners.

Actually, thats not a problem. :) The webhost i have now, is by far the best ive had, in terms of stability and service. Havent had any problems with them at all and ive had the webpage there for almost 2 years now. As for joker.com, i tried logging on with the codes i have, and i couldnt change a thing there, even though im the owner.

"Idiots"? Rochr - you are soooo polite. FTP the joker site via dos using the run command "ftp ftp.serviceprovidersname.com" you will then be prompted for your user name then your password. It will tell you if the site and you're stuff is still there. If this works you can then by typing dir and cd(ing) to the subdirectories you can see what your permissions are - don't try to change them - just look. you should see something like drwxrwxrwx. The first rwx is all you're worried about in non-unix ISP. it should be at least rw_r__r_ for your uploaded stuff. If not someone(the site owner) has changed the permissions. KEY: (d directory r read w write x exec). - TJ

Damn, you scared me for a second there, you should have used ... instead of ! at the end of the subject header. I was like, 'What, why is he getting rid of his site?' ... shows how stupid I am. That would have really sucked if it was really gone.

Thats what i love about this community. People always help out. :) But really, rochr.com has been on my mind for some time now, and finally i got the thumbs out to get it. Subspacegraphics.com is parked to the new domain, so it will still work + it gives people some time to change links and get used to the new address. But many thanx for the help anyway everyone. :) Good news is that now im having 800 mb of webspace, so ill be putting up some freebie models there.

800mb? You'd be surprised how fast that will disappear when you start uploading downloads, LOL, I know! How much transfer and bandwidth did they give you?

Ive just upgraded to V5, and got, apart from the 800 meg webspace, 35 GB of transfer/bandwith. Pretty good i think. :)

Old/New website? The Queen is dead! Long Live the Queen! I was considering going with www.fourbucks.net, with their 1Gb space, 40Gb of monthly traffic for $8/month. But, still looking around. Did'ya notice CG Channel has 1Gb space, unlimited traffic and a free domain name for a year for $11/month? AgentSmith

Ah, it's what Britan used to say when a new queen was appointed after the old one had died. (according to some movies, lol) Kinda twisted. Hey (OT)...DAZ is going to be at Siggraph, and I'm gonna be ALL over them. Anything you want me to pass along, lol? AS

Rochr, can you be a little more careful with how you phrase things like this thread title in the future lol. I damn near had a heart attack when I saw it. But good to see you've moved to a (hopefully) more responsive host :)

From what I gather....DAZ is going to progress Bryce's GUI a little, but not change it. I guess there was some notes taken down from the original Bryce creators comments. I believe it is just going to center around workflow, and actually finishing up the GUI. (there are many secret keyboard combo's that need to be made a part of the actual GUI, etc.) But, no from how they talk about it, DAZ does NOT want to go radically changing the interface. They know it's a HUGE facet to why we love the program. AgentSmith
