Subject: Clothes and V3 poses dont get along

Belladzines ( ) posted Sat, 10 July 2004 at 11:24 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 10:34 AM

once i've clothed V3 - is there any way i can make them both bond? so that when i pose her, she goes one way and the clothes go another way? Artemis.

That would depend on the kind of clothing being used. If it is a prop (such as dynamic clothing) -- parent it. If it is a figure (in your Character library) -- conform it. parenting = select clothing, Object -> Change Parent... conforming = select clothing, Figure -> Conform to...

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

ok i've tried it, using conforming clothing ive done what you said, and this isnt even posing v3 yet. the clothes go all funny, am i doing something wrong? and with parenting how does that work? a menu comes up and a list and i click on body and then what do i do?

Clothing has to be made for the figure you are using it on. Is that v3 clothing you have on her? And if she is morphed, the clothes may not fit 'out of the box'

everyone is new at some point .. and these days most people ask this question at least once. I never did .. but then again, there wasn't any conforming clothing when I started Poser. I feel old.

Indeed :o) I was just happy back then that I had this place to help me through those early stages of the Poser learning curve. Like you I never asked the conforming question but it had me scratching my head for a good while and kicking myself when I realised.

I really don't want anyone to think I am being rude or nasty here, but I see a lot of this type of question being asked. I found out how to conform clothes because I looked it up in the manual. Again, not wishing to sound horrid, surely when you buy a piece of software that costs as much as Poser, most people would at least glance at the manual. This sort of stuff is covered, there is a simple guide to setting up your first scene that deals with most conforming issues. Artemis-Sun, settle down with a coffee/beer/diet coke and check out that shiny tome - it is worth it.

After you have conformed the clothing... make sure you have V3 (or other person) selected when you select a pose.. If you have the clothing selected everything will be messed up!!

Yeah but the manual is written in Bafflegabble .. its difficult to puzzle out sometimes. When technical types write manuals for artist types .. stuff gets lost in translation

Yeh, what he said, the renderosity tutorials are a life saver.
