Not QUITE accurate - Holmes sometimes wore a deerstalker in the original illustrations in The Strand. But no more often than any other type of hat (for example, he wore a bowler about as often). The thespian who trod the floorboards as Holmes arguably started the process of iconifying Homes as a deerstalker-wearer, but certainly didn't introduce him to the headpiece. Cheers, Cliff
