"You are all aware, I'm sure, of the recent events, concerning Tarin Industries. I shall waste no time in repeating them. I am to inform you, however, that yesterday, I have been contacted and entrusted with the duty to represent the public in the forementioned case.
The crime, tragic as it may be, is not without widespread repercussions. The act itself cannot be straightforwardly called murder, as it consists of more than just the volitional removal of one's life by another. The victim is the progenitor, and the persecutor his clone; a clone, allegedly incapable of such an act, thus giving rise to various questions concerning the cloning practices used by Tarin Industries, or even cloning in general.
I am convinced that responsibility lies not with the clone itself. Such a closely monitored being should be predictable at any time. Surely by mistake, I dare not think otherwise, the clone was either led to this act, or the authorities monitoring it have failed. Public anxiety, seen under these assumptions, can be understood, and is more than justified; it must, however, be moderated.
That is why must act now, with reason and logic, to ensure justice is being done, and that this novelty of a crime is never repeated."
