Parametric mapping doesn't always show up, depending on the object, I don't really know why. Like Kemal says, you should try sizing it smaller (larger numbers, smaller size). Also try changing the mapping type from parametric to object space, world space, object cubic, world cubic. Sometimes I try all of the mapping types one by one until I find one that looks best.
