Instant progress report: I tried just that and it works well enough I think. The hardest part was getting two different sets of hair on Zere. I had to put the hair on the dork, then reparent it to the ground, then delete the dork. Then the hair was independent and I could load Zere with the greek hair and move the plasticy hair to the pubic area and reparent it to the hip. I don't know how this would hold up if I were to animate or anything like that, but it is at least a start and suits my artistic needs.
