hi there, can you use the seam guide template to do new textures? or do you need the texture template? they both look the same to me.

The seam guides (created by SnowSultan) are what you want for creating new textures. Using an existing texture can help sometimes, but odd quirks might pop in here now and then (such as stuff for transparencies) that affect the texture. THe seam guides are the UVMaps that have been carefully put together by SnowSUltan to enable you to see where one area begins and another ends, helping to reduce seams in your textures.

The seam guides are the same as the templates, the seam guides have more information in them so they are better to use, just to make that clear. :)

Never ever use an existing texture as a basis for a new one, unless it's your own texture. Leave in or clone in a piece of it, and you'll be drawn and quartered.

you know - that never crossed my mind.
