I've seen something similar where I live. Go to one BK, and nobody knows wtf they're doing. Employees can't seem to tell their head from their @$$ let alone get an order right. I've learned to completely avoid doing any buisness with that resturant. Then go to another BK four blocks down the exact same street. The employees seem to have the same social/economic background as those at the previously mentioned BK. Same is true about the areas surrounding both resturants (so it's not a poor vs. rich thing.) But what's different about the second resturant? Employees and the resturant are clean, they get the orders correct, and everything is done quickly without much waiting. So what's the real difference? The management! Apparently if those directing the show care, the effects are seen througout all the workers. Same can be said about different shifts. But usually it's more of a franchise operator thing. Some sit on their hands and others are more pro-active. Good franchise operators tend to quickly eliminate poor managers in their staff regardless of shift. If you see a crappy resturant and a good one in the same chain in the same town, odds are they belong to two separate franchise operators. * Now if only BK would bring back their chicken parmesan sandwich and Arbys would do the same with the french dip. *
