"Angel" is a spinoff of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," about a 300-year-old vampire named Angelus cursed with a soul and conscience, who runs a somewhat noirish agency to help Los Angelenos who've gone astray and are being persecuted by the forces of evil. Equal parts horror and tongue-in-cheek dialogue with a dash of soap opera.
