Yup - it's a Konqui thing (which is why I use 'zilla :) ) Good to see that it runs in Mandrake! Someone was asking about RH, but I'd have to find a spare box w/ Fedora running to tell for sure. I also found a handy Linux version of Crossroads... it's called 3dto3d. Dunno if it's on sourceforge or what (I stumbled across it on the install disk), but the list of apps that can run in Linux for 3d is getting bigger every time I go to look :) /P
I tried Outlook Express and it ran just fine. But I can't get any viruses via e-mail because the mails are scanned and cleaned when they reach the mail server. It would be interesting to see how a Windows virus works under Crossover Office. Looks like there's now only one problem with running D|S on Linux, slow emulation speed. Sure, Crossover Office runs plenty of Windows apps, I could even play Fallout 2... but it's slow. D|S responds better if I give the process a higher priority (which I think is weird because nothing heavy is running in the background). Of course I must not forget that cxoffice is geared towards running software that doesn't eat a lot of system resources. Anyway, I'm probably going to uninstall my trial of cxoffice so that I can use WineX. I'm all excited now that I got the damned ATI Radeon drivers installed. Now I can finally run Quake 3 and UT2004 on Linux, and a lot of Windows games under WineX. Unfortunately ATI's Linux drivers suck, and I get lower fps than on Windows. Anyway, I'm confident that the next drivers will be better.
The ATI may be part of the problem - I haven't seen any appreciable slowdowns myself, but I have a TNT-based chipset and glx running here (which means little resource wastage), and at home I have a GeForce4 w/ 128MB on the card (where nvidia and Linux have always played nicely together.) I'll play with it a bit at home and see what I can come up with (I'll be re-building my comp at home completely, either this weekend or early next week) /P
