ok (^_^) i just was curious about the creator

Interesting that someone pointed out the similarity facially to Disney's BELLE. I wonder how much that influenced the design.

Belle was one of my favorite characters and now that you mention it I can see the similarity. I always loved how she was constantly brushing that stray hair off her face, that was a nice touch.

Um...forgive me, but aren't all Disney chicks the same but with different hair/eye color? (Ariel is the best BTW) -WTB

DigitalVixxen ( ) posted Tue, 17 August 2004 at 2:12 PM

Belle is my favorite as well.. and yes, I saw much of her in GIRL. One of the few reasons I'd ever consider buying the thing. But, alas, Belle's figure was much more proportionate (sp?) and realistic than GIRL's.

Yes, that main image of her that's been around for a while is the only one I've ever seen of that I like. I wonder what the focal length of camera settings were because aside from the bulky, hulky body that's evident in other images I've seen and just part of her geometry, she sometimes looks very head heavy as well and I guess I've thought that maybe the 'just right' focal length hasn't been found yet. Most times she looks like the hobbit that got away. : ) Dave

I think that Staci looks more mike a Disney Princess then Girl does but they all have that similar look. Staci just has the proportions right.

I think you could slap a mertail on the GIRL and you'd have a pretty good render of the Little Mermaid :) Ooo the possibilities...if only I owned that model...sigh when I finally get a job maybe.

sorry folks I just don't see Ariel in there

shogakusha ( ) posted Tue, 17 August 2004 at 6:58 PM

Nope, not a bit. Ariel had more scales on her tail.

bigger hips too

hmm...maybe that was pam i was thinking that the GIRL released at DAZ does not look like the GIRL I saw in that original image or in the mags. Did Kim change the face a bit in making it Poser compatible? or is it the focal length...

I brought up a concern here once that it's possible the transformation of girl from her native rig to Poser might not completely satisfy users who have seen all her 3dsMax and Lightwave renders, but it was met with some negativity. Perhaps Kim uses a special morph for her face that he's reserved for himself (for commercial purposes), or perhaps no one has figured out the correct morph settings yet to duplicate Kim's version perfectly. Or perhaps it is the camera (as mentioned). Don't forget Kim rendered the images of her in 3dsMax, using the cameras there... so perhaps it's just a matter of figuring out which camera variables he used as well.

I did bring up the notion of focal length here in this thread and made a funny little joke, but alas, no one expounded on it. : )

Look at my store ( I will not link to it but you can find it by clicking on my name ) and have a look at the mertail for staci, now that looks like the lil mermaid to me anyway much more then the GIRL.

Girl is not related to anything by Disney in any way, not in appearance or style or anything else.

She is entirely based on the continental European toon style - French, Belgian and Dutch artists have done this kind of thing for decades.
There must be twenty artists using this type of style - and none of them work for Disney that I know of.

So you're telling me you see no resemblance whatsoever to Belle. We're not talking body-wise because GIRL looks like she's loaded with modern plastic surgery technology, but we're talking facially. To me, she is very similar. Kind of a Belle/Lara Croft appearance.
