Success! I've figured out how to save an Illustrator file without crashing.

Here's the Illustrator file exported to a gif in Photoshop.

I figured out why the crashing was happening. Inkulator needs to actually be ON the C: drive for it to save the images properly. I had originally extracted the inkulator.zip file on to another drive and was running it from there. Once I moved the inkulator.exe file to the C: drive, my image saved smoothly.
