Don't know if this is relevant to your Mesh problem, but there's a tiny picture in the mag of a dialogue box called "Performance Options" which contains a Tab titled "Data Execution Prevention" which allows you to turn off hardware DEP. Maybe it's worth a try if you can access the dialogue in Safe Mode?
