OK, here's what I do in Max. First of all, I load the figure to which I want to conform the clothing. I use the HABWare plugins to import the .OBJ and scale it at 250 (the Poser figures will then be about 6 feet tall in the Max coordinate system) Then I import the cloth. It imports as separate meshes, one mesh for each body part. I select all those meshes and apply an Edit Mesh modifier, so I can deform different body parts at the same time. Say, I want to fit a V3 dress to the PreTeen. I apply a FFD Box 2x2x2 to the complete Edit Mesh, select all control points, and scale it down to a rough fit. Then I collapse the FFD to editable mesh. Again, an Edit Mesh modifier, and now I'll reduce her breast size. In the Vertex subobject level, I select the vertices in the chest area, and then apply a FFD Box 4x4x4. Twiddling with the control points I get the dress to fit her a lot better. Again, collapse to editable mesh. This process will take some time, as you will have to select different parts of the cloth and tweak them, but the general process stays the same. It's not a very advanced use of Max features, but it takes a lot of time and practice to get it right. I find I have much more control in Max than in CC.
