I tried all sorts of tweaks -- no joy. Changed out the maps over and over again (though I finally got one that I think is better for my needs than the one I started with -- the blue white one I have in minature), and then, suddenly, after a reboot (not that I didn't reboota number of times inbetween), it is gone. I think you are right that it is some artifact that just faded away out of glitchiness, though generally I've not had any P5 problems. Hey, my first P5 SR4 problem!
