I haven't shot it dead just yet, but I have a bad feeling that it's a thermal failure. The drive identifies just fine...but it throws nothing but I/O errors. Went and got another SATA drive (used the opportunity to go from a 160 to a 250 gig...which will put my real estate in the 620gb range. I'll get my terabyte tower for 1,000 woody points yet!), and one of those Antec fanned HDD heat sinks that go into a full bay. If I -do- manage to resurrect the old drive I'll be a happy puppy. If not....I might use the chance to reconfigure some things... I'd be crying if I didn't enjoy digging into a computer so much...... :P
