Does any one know where i can get a "Fish Scales" Brush for photoshop 7 or a really good picture of fish scales?

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 30 August 2004 at 2:08 PM

I don't have a brush, but Google "fish scales", and select the image link above the search entry field. LOTS of fish scale pics!

I could have added the additional noise easily, but figured that wouldn't be what you wanted. I'm always amazed at what people will sell. (or try to)

you gotta love a smart ass :) No i could care less about that anwser. Here is a pic of my latest wip what is the best way to color/paint this in that would give it good color and luminosity? you know some of that metalic look? AND do you have AIM? by chance that would be faster for conversation

Gareee ( ) posted Mon, 30 August 2004 at 4:36 PM

Nope, I don't use aim... sorry. I wouldn't use it for the color map, I'd use the scales for a bump or displacement map. I'd use a another copy of what you have in a photoshop layer set to darken, and then paint your color texture on a layer beneath that. That way, your "crevasses" will be darker then the base color, and you'll also have them "deeper" as well. Kick up the specular for a "metallic" look, and if you have P5, also setup alt specular with the ansitropic node, for a very wet gloss look.

I am kind of new to Photoshop7 so where would i find specular?

Porthos ( ) posted Mon, 30 August 2004 at 5:48 PM

Lady_Annika ( ) posted Mon, 30 August 2004 at 10:45 PM

that can be said for a lot of my programs lol I am self taught in just about everything i am doing but for some reason i can't get the photoshop thing just by reading.

TrekkieGrrrl ( ) posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 12:31 AM

The scales are awesome, Gareee. What filter was that?! And the face textures look good too, but the scales on the forehead looks like they're upside-down....

Gareee, was that done using the new EyeCandy Texture filter? Because I was thinking of getting that but hadn't really seen much use other than new fur.

PabloS ( ) posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 2:11 AM

.

Gareee ( ) posted Tue, 31 August 2004 at 8:01 AM

Yep. The reptile scales, fur, and some of the others are quie neat. What I like, is that they also give you a whole bunch of presets to start out with for each filter. I thinlk the reptile one have like 30 or so presets, and the fur is the same way.
