'Doc' Smith's books - the Lensmen series - in one the Lensmen build an amoured suit like you have - only it doesn't have a visor 'cos Lensmen use the powers of the Lens - so that they can go up against machine guns without getting killed. This is the sort of thing I imagined them having.
