I like how the render gives me the feeling of getting a cramp in my neck from looking up at something massive. Yup, "loomingness". AS

"I want to be what I was
when I wanted to be what I am now"
I love the pic, BUT (there's always a but..) Whilst the perspective is probably totally accurate, to me the result looks like something taken with a wide-angle camera. If that's the intended effect, then fine:-), but if its supposed to be a scene viewed by a "human eye", then the towers should be less inclined, closer to the perpendicular. (After all, the human mind isn't a camera - it "sees" things at it thinks it knows they are, not as they really are). As it is, I feel that the left-hand tower (particularly) is on the point of dropping off the cliff into the water. Just a suggestion. But I really do feel that "straightening" the towers would add a sense of .. errm.. realism? (or maybe menace..) I'd love to see the result of doing that, if only to prove me wrong! Cheers, Diolma
Aye, Diolma, your suggestions are great! But alas, I entirely intended for this scene to be viewed from a perspective angle, and I disagree with perpendicular realism. No buildings that you ever look at are truly perpendicular, perspective always skews this. If you're in Seattle and look up at the buildings, they always lean away, and this is the beauty of 3D graphics for me, to be able to capture perspective functions without resorting to rulers and drawing techniques... But, I do appreciate your input, my friend! I posted the finished image (finished? BAH!) in the galleries, and hope you like it anyway! Thanks for your critique...
I had been thinking that something flying in the sky would be a good addition and I like what you've done. But, my but is, those rock mound things on the shore line don't really look quite right to my eye. Maybe if there were more of them and a little bit smaller too it would be better. If your happy with it though Shadow don't mind me. 8) Catlin

Here's a link to the gallery version, although I agree with your suggestion about some smaller rocks, Catlin, I just can't find any more patience for the spacialization, and placing rocks and trees in a scene is tedious and obnoxius for me. NO collision detection! Crazy... Thanks again for stopping to check this one out, everyone! This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
