doh! thanks for the heads up on that. As with any new site launch, the first few days/week or so will see us making a few tweaks to little things like that, but we're really pleased with the way it's running. It's a definite improvement over the store as it was. :)

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 12:08 AM

Thanks Suede. :) I didn't even notice that. All fixed now. --Rebekah--

Ben_Dover ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 1:37 AM

Holy crap, that's awesome you guys! Congrats on a terrific looking store. :)

Suede ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 1:53 AM

sure thing! - oops sorry I didnt just PM you actually Rebekah, I do internet design professionally and I tend to just go into 'debug mode' whenever I surf hehe :) Its a really nice and intuitive set up! I hope this proves to be just as much fun, if not more, for everyone as the old site was [which both ronstuff and I loved btw :)] Good luck with everything! - Mike

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 3:25 AM

I don't mind the debugging. :) Well, are going to be setting up new forums also....better laid out also. The original site was meant as tech support for our figures....well...it kinda outgrew itself a long time ago. But when I start have problems with it...well, then that is the time to change. :) --Rebekah--

MaterialForge ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 10:29 AM

Awesome! I love the look. does our current sixus1 login work there, or do we need to re-register on this site? Just checking... Heheh, funnily enough, I'm about to go through this same chaos myself with a new Posertrax site. Wish me luck...

MaterialForge ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 10:31 AM

ok, answered my own question. I just registerd at the new store. --Donnie

dagmath ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 3:20 PM

yeh nice site, but thats because its os commerce. just a heads up! you might like to read the oscommerce copyright information before continuing though. it clearly states that the site has to be changed significantly (not just adding your logo and products) before you can remove the copyright information. people have put alot of hard work into oscommerce and deserve credit/recognition. As you know Just coz it FREE/GPL, copyright still exists...you wouldn't like someone doing it to you - right!

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 4:10 PM ยท edited Wed, 01 September 2004 at 4:24 PM

The tone of voice that you have taken is very confrontational. I don't appreciate that. I do understand that you are trying to watch out for the people who have created oscommerce, and that I can appreciate.

I do realize that the copyright info is missing from the bottom....somehow it got all pushed to the left hand side and looked like crap. I found the place where it is called in but haven't been able to get it centered. I wanted to get the site up and running before we left for DragonCon this weekend. So, I commented it out for now. It has been stated that there is some minor tweeking left to do. That would be one of the things. I just don't have time right now.

BTW--a lot free software groups have PayPal donation but I can't seem to find it at the OsCommerce website. Any ideas ?

Again, I never took credit for programming the site, only installing it and tweeking it for our purposes and the confrontational tone of the post implies that I was trying to 'rip' someone off, which I wasn't.

Anyway, back to burning more discs.

--Rebekah--

P.S. Thanks for the topic 'Copyright notice" or whatever it was....that will get more people to look at the thread and at our store ;)

I reuploaded the default footer and see now that it got messed up when I removed the page views from it. I will tweek THAT when I get back and leave the copyright notice (especially since it has now resumed it spot in center). --Rebekah--

dagmath ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 6:05 PM

not confrontational at all on my behalf just matter of fact, i suppose it all depends on the tone of voice you read post in. for example i could read into your post that i got your back up. no offence ment. people can get a little touchy when it comes to copyright issues as you can understand. in relation to paypal donations contact them, im sure harald will point you in the right direction! enough said enjoy dragon*con might see you there!

sixus1 ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 6:53 PM

I contact Harald. :) But they really should put a donation button on the site...they would get more spontaneous donations that way :) Sorry if I took the tone of your post wrong. Once again, that is the joys of the internet ;) --Rebekah--

Rebekah, it looks GREAT! Have fun at DragonCon!

sandoppe ( ) posted Wed, 01 September 2004 at 9:58 PM

The site looks great Rebekah! Should make it a lot easier on you not having to send those links out any more! :) The only thing that would be nice is if our purchase history from the other site could be transferred to this one. I'm always forgetting what I bought....and I've purchased quite a bit already! :)

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 6:19 AM

So the forums are staying at Sixus, but when you want to buy something, you go to the new store? It's looking good!

precisely, garee. :) We felt that we've grown to a point where the store as it was just wasn't cutting it anymore. I feel this new site is a great solution for us and our customers. At the same time, I feel that our store and our forums don't necessarily have to have the same stylistic tone. I would prefer for the store to be a clean, highly functional business presence, whereas the forums can remain the loose knit "hang out" spot that we have come to enjoy. The forums are going to undergo a few changes soon, but mostly in the form of added functionality and convenience for the users. The atmosphere will remain the same "BYOB" attitude that we've come to know and love. The forums will also be gaining a new url soon: www.poserforums.com :) The third phase of our updated web presence will see, in the coming weeks, the debut of www.sixus1media.com. This will act as our corporate site with information on our services, rate card, personell, demo reels, sample art, and anything else pertaining to our capabilities for production. By dividing our web prsence into specific sites for specific purposes, we hope to provide better access to us for new and old clients alike, maintain the strong community we see growing in our forums, and expand our online retail presence to accomodate our constantly growing product lines. The current url of www.sixus1.com will then become the hub of our sites, a central point from which browsers can easily navigate to thier area specific area of interest. -Les

Gareee ( ) posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 6:38 AM

I'm sure for google engine searchs alone youll gain more traffic with "poser" in the name. I used to just tell people to search for sixus before though, and take the first googled link. Only request: add a big fat link on the sixus main site for PoserProducts...

"The only thing that would be nice is if our purchase history from the other site could be transferred to this one. I'm always forgetting what I bought....and I've purchased quite a bit already" I will try to get everything moved over.....wish me luck :)

If everything can be transfered, that would be terrific! Good luck!

Fashionably_Late ( ) posted Thu, 02 September 2004 at 3:24 PM

Looks excellent! Now that you guys have a more expansive store site, will you be considering offering any 3rd party products for your models? Add-ons or character sets for HER, Adam, etc? I always think its convenient to find the accessories the same place you find the model. Have fun at Dragon Con!

Ethesis ( ) posted Sat, 04 September 2004 at 8:06 PM

Usually I just look through the forums to find the third party stuff -- people post and comment and Rebekah always makes third party products into sticky posts so they stay at the top. However ... depending on what they do with the forums, etc. there might be a way to have subtopics for each product. Project Human * Behemoth * H.E.R. * Discussion * Third Party Support (HERtoo, etc.) * Adam2 * G.U.Y. * Lililith (ok, I'm making everything up after Adam2) Monsters/Horror/SciFi etc.

Ethesis ( ) posted Sat, 04 September 2004 at 8:07 PM

Or, in the store, under each category might do a link to: 'Rosity (http://market.renderosity.com/index.ez?cat=POSHER) 'Netherworks 'Etc.

sixus1 ( ) posted Tue, 07 September 2004 at 4:22 AM

pssst..... that GUY thing there... wrong name... the next Project: Human figure is called H.I.M..... :)

Well, I wasn't sure if I could mention HIM so I figured I'd use something else, not to mention play games with Lillian's name, etc. But, now that it is public, I'm all for encouraging you to release it now, support later. And Hakima pants for Adam2!

ynsaen ( ) posted Wed, 08 September 2004 at 6:12 AM

Nice looking store, guys! Almost went with osCommerce myself, ended up with ZenCart - less hassle. And HIM soon, eh? howsabout more monsters! Weird ones!

thou and I, my friend, can, in the most flunkey world, make, each of us, one non-flunkey, one hero, if we like: that will be two heroes to begin with. (Carlyle)

sixus1 ( ) posted Thu, 09 September 2004 at 12:40 AM

No worries...the monsters will be on parade also. :) And OsCommerce was a cinch to set up. :) No hassles at all really.
