It has layering and you have complete control over background color and transparency. You also have control over every single gradient control point. This allows you to create your gradient on the fly instead searching for around for the right one. UF also allows you to rotate and zoom with ease. This means the you can create multiple layered images in complete context, including color, location, size, orientation, transparency and merge mode.

The biggest drawback to UF is that does not manage memory as well as Apophysis does when disk rendering flames. It might take out your system when rendering large flames. That's only a problem with flames.

The image in the link was created with Apophysis flames that were assembled in UF. It was exported, not rendered.
