Concerning your problem with 3DS, you're not saying what your problem is but as is often the problem, if the meshes come in all scattered helter-skelter, well then, if that's the case, use Reset Xform in the utilities panel on all your 3D StudioMax meshes before saving and exporting, that should remedy the situation if that is the case.
