perlgoodies, ok i am new to bryce as well but i think i can help here, no screen shot so i can't point at the items for you to see where they are. I'll be instructing you with bryce 5 so i hope you have that on :) Ok get your terrain, click on the E on the menu that pops up on the right of it. When the terrain editor opens you'll see on the left hand side a rectangle with three circles, an upside down triangle and a square on it. Ok, first part: on the upside down triangle, you'll see the red dot they mention in that tut. Secondly: the hardness is the second circle from the top. hold your cuser on it then while holding your left mouse button down move your mouse to the right Third: the brush size is done by holding your curser on the top circle and moving your mouse left or right, depending on the size brush you want to use.
