There are two ways to profit - low sales and high margins; or high sales and low margins. DAZ operates in the latter manner. It offers (mostly) high quality product and shoves it out cheap to thousands and thousands (it then offers frequent incremental improvements and sells loads of those). DAZ can develop Bryce at a low item cost if it can sell enough items. But that requires focussing Bryce development on the needs of DAZ's mass market...
