Angelus, newbie or not, at least you brought it up in the right way, with a project at hand... Methinks that you're going about it backwards, though. I think you should actually do the animation in Bryce, except for the figures. Do them in poser, with null objects as placers. Then coposite them in AfterEffects or some other program. Poser will render alphas (TIFF) if you tell it to...
