We'll here's how I would see it. If you enter any room from a corner area, the door swing should reveal most of the room as you begin to open the door. This prevents smacking children, cats, etc. The current hanging requires a wider sweep to reveal what's in the room. If the door was in the center (centre), it wouldn't matter. Since your door can be hung either way, it solves the problem in any case. My office is identical to your layout, so I am perhaps influenced by the way they hung my door...
