The "printer" problem occurs on several programs, including Poser, PhotoShop, MS Word, Ulead PhotoImpact. This seems silly to me, but it happens: 1.) Let's say you use a printer that is hooked up to another computer on the network. 2.) Let's say the computer that has the printer is turned off. The programs listed above look for that printer (port?) It's ok if the printer is turned off. But if the computer that runs that printer is turned off, then these programs will not load. I went through considerable trouble trying to figure this out, including talking to some "dignitaries" from Curious Labs. This was rather upsetting to me since the printer was hooked to my wife's computer, and I wanted to save energy by turning off her computer when she was not home. The eventual solution was to buy me a cheap inkjet printer, since I don't print that much. Problem solved.
