Chuck, Tumbleweeds was one of my favorite strips: Claude Clay hiring a singing erudite gravedigger, Hildegarde Hamhocker's Honeymoon Haven, the indians fighting off pepper pox or practicing "sneak week"... and Tumbleweeds himself laconically observing everything. I was born in Montana and my uncle still ranches cattle up there. A friend of his manages a ghost town called Virginia City, including buckboard rides to the top of their cemetary. The saloon/hotel is a class place: I've peered over the double-decker outhouse at the end of the balcony! I was 15 at the time and STILL remember it with delighted horror. If I started modeling this, it would never get done. Besides, Sharon and Mike already have some western buildings and a light touch of morbid humor: Rosemary's Baby Carriage is proof of that! In a game called "The Haunting" for EA, I created a cowboy skeleton who draws, fires and vanishes. The clothes vanish a second later. Have you ever hung a holster off a skeleton? :sigh: But fueds and range wars are never really settled, are they? And I could see Hallowe'en shoot-outs between guys who aren't resting easily. This is probably not what they've done... but Sharen will perhaps slap her forehead and make notes for next year. Carolly, aider and abbettor
