The commentary was made that the Ewoks may have been brushed by Anderson/Dickson's "Hoka" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/0671577743/103-0780090-7368622?%5Fencoding=UTF8) The Hoka, however, are vastly more interesting. A look through some of the early scripts for the first Star Wars trilogy leads on to believe that the inhabitants of Endor's forest moon started as Wookies and shrunk due to the pressures of budget and the potentials of toy marketting. There is, by the way, a short film entitled "George Lucas in Love" (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000053VC0/103-0780090-7368622?v=glance) which makes the hilarious argument that George was merely reacting to his college environment (George to his Yoda-like faculty advisor; "Could you try, just, talking FORWARD?"
