In describing my disability to others, I've often joked, "I'm just like Christopher Reeve, only better looking." (I'm also in an electric wheelchair and require a ventilator to breathe.) While I disagreed with Reeve on stem cell issues (I feel there's greater promise in adult stem cell research) I applaud the fact that he brought many disability issues into the limelight.
