Problem 1 - yes, it happens to me, so I guess it is 'normal'! Problem 2 - I've had the same thing as well. Problem 3 - I always say no, as I figure that, as it was working up to the crash, compatability isn't really the issue, plus I don't want to have to start turning things back on.
