I didn't get this set because I already have all of Lyne's Big Cats. They really do these magnificant creatures proud!

But when I first saw this lion's mane I figured it must have been an African Black Mane Lion they were going for. The coloration can go anywhere from tawny to pure black.

As an aside the reason for the "attraction" for the females is because the black mane seems to be a hardier breed and the survival rate for offspring are higher.

Pretty smart lioness huh? ;-)
