Just lost 4 hours work because when I went to save it I got an "out of memory" error message. What do I need to do to fix this problem??????? Cheers GG.

well for one you really need to save often. I try and save like every ten minutes. Saves a lot of headaches in the long run.

what you need is to save often, as well as start making your renders layered.

LunarTick ( ) posted Tue, 26 October 2004 at 3:04 AM

kiwi, i have had the same problem a few times, when saving something or three times now when trying to import something. Coltzero, so what are you trying to say by your reply, you have better memory than us, your computer has more memory than ours. Please explain what you mean by it.

If you can't buy more ram, increase your virtual memory. AS

Hey! thanks guys, I should have described the whole scenario a little better, anyway, seemed to remember a similar thread waaay back in the forum,so,a quick search later I found that eelie had exactly the same prob last year. Have printed it off and now have a solution. Cheers 8) GG

Lunartick you are awfully quick to take offense by alot of posts here. Relax! I'm pretty sure he was just kidding around, I think hes talking about the age thing. You see the little :P in his message? That means hes kidding.

Bryce hardly ever crashes for me. I just don't push it enough I guess. I did force it to crash by setting max ray depth to 9999. My computer just laughed at me and then Bryce shut down. I do save pretty often though. Can't be too careful.

Coltzero i'm not pissed at your comment, just didn't understand it thats all. I'm not pissed that you have a 3.8GHz with 1024MB ram be nice to have that but here in Australia it would kill me just trying to buy it for the price they want for things here. I have a radeo 128MB video card in this old thing, its a Athlon 1800+ with 512mb ram which i hope to upgrade the ram and chip soon.

Blonderella, The link you requested. I suspect my prob is a texture one as well cos my pic was pretty much made up like eelies but I only had 1 figure and 1 radial light a 2d image and water plane(surface). In the process of re-building the scene now. As for you other folks could I please have your cast off putors, I,m running 512mb ram with an athlon 800mhz,64mb video card, need major upgrade like "yesterday" but don't have surplus cash at the moment.

Cheers 8)

Geez,...........I've got a dual 2Ghz Xeon box(not that dualies do any good with Bryce), a FireGL graphic workstation vidcard w/256Mb's ram on card and 2Gb's of fast DDR memory and I still have problems with Bryce when the scene file gets over 500Mb's,......be nice if they'd fix this sort of thing while they're(Daz) "fixing" things.

kiwi, i'm in the same boat mate, ready cash is hard to come by. Especially with the Aussie and kiwi dollar the way they are, prices for computers/hardware/software over here is bloody stupid. We end up paying near double the price on somethings :)

thanks kiwi! :D
