If the image is still the single layer background,promote it to a layer (double left click). Select the alpha channel,then click that little circle at the bottom left on the channel pallet (load channel as a selection). Then select the RBG channel...... Shift+Ctrl+I (inverse selection)....delete....Ctrl+D (delete selection). Done.
