Author: Howie Hamlin Dear President Bush, Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from you and understand why you would propose and support a constitutional amendment banning same sex marriage. As you said, "in the eyes of God marriage is based between a man a woman." I try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination... End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev15: 19-24. The problem is how do tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev.21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev.19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev.19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev. 24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively and thus enjoy considerable expertise in such matters, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging!

Even if this isn't the politics forum, thank you. Art is strictly related with politics. A question: following your thinking I believe that this is the reason why Bush, petrol companies and US army are doing such a mish mash around in the world. In the Holy Bible there's nothing about petrol. No rules, no problem with carpet bombing and unfair trading. Curious philosophy ;D Why aren't the white house and the pentagon at Vatican at this point? (maybe the Pope doesn't like integralists)

"Never place a period, where God has placed a comma" - This is Man's biggest problem, He picks and chosses what he likes from the bible, leaving out the rest. Hes leaves out the rest because it talks about him also who is pointing the finger and placing judgement on others.

I agree with you electroglyph, Man does more damage, and twist Gods word more then any demon could :)

Leviticus hated women and alot of other things, Leviticus should be removed from the bible, since ALL dont life by it. Hes a Jerk imho :)

P.S God has and always will have the last word, What man says most times means nothing :)

Peace

I read this a while ago, and absolutely loved it. I don't like to get into Politics, but I really hate Bush. It's not a matter of whether people of the same sex should be allowed to get married, but whether the GOVERMENT should have the right to tell us what gender our spouse should be.

This is what dont matter to most people, i say that because they sure dont life by it ---> Matthew 7 Judging Others 1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3"Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye. 12 So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. Ok, My Sunday School is finished, have to go do yard work lol, My last 2 cents :) Peace All

Then Claymor, you need to enlightin me, I just always thought he was a Man, But from your comment i am wrong. But one point that stands true is, If its a Man or a group of Men, The book of Leviticus goes against the new testament (IMHO). He or They who put Leviticus together, no boubt in my mind anyway, Hated women, My own Pastor cant really give me answers on the book of Leviticus :) Thanks for correcting me :) Peace

xceiverx ( ) posted Sat, 13 November 2004 at 10:52 AM

Leviticus is the third book of the Hebrew Bible, also the third book in the Torah (five books of Moses). Christians refer to the Hebrew Bible as the Old Testament. The English name is derived from the Latin Liber Leviticus which is from the Greek (το) Λενιτικόν (i.e., βιβλίον). In Jewish writings it is customary to cite the book by its first word, Vayikra ויקרא. The main points of the book are concerned with Levitical (priestly) worship. (Ok so it was a group of man made laws) hehe Thanks Claymor, i learned someting new today :)

to erosiaart Yes, art is related to politic in a double way. Governors, kings and tyranns have always chosen an art represenative for their power. An icon to identify an ideology or a religion or whatelse power. But also art can explain or denounce a status. There are many ways, even when you show your internal ghosts. Most ghosts are not personal, but a social fact. If you denunce a disease, most times you are denuncing a collective disease: this is politic for me. I personally try to be positive in my art, because I hope this can have a positive influence. The world is an ugly place too, but negativity creates negativity. There is a kind of fascination in toying with shit. It's incredible how many deaths or cruel facts can we watch in the news without noticing it. We believe it's quite normal. If we could see many good news too, this could help peolple to live better, to find a way out for troubles. Positive visions are politic too Or not? What do you believe? /matteo

MoonGoat ( ) posted Sat, 13 November 2004 at 11:17 PM

Cracks knuckles We do not bash, we observe the threat to human culture that is Bush. WTF you ask? How about WTF is up with him passing a law that allowes people to carry concealed firearms in amusement parks and churches? How about WTF could be a reason for allowing a bill to time out that prevented the sale of automatic weapons? Do you have any need for automatic weapons? Me neither. And WTF was he thinking that a 4-week vacation immediately after the 911 attacks would make everything better? Bush observing is now an art form, very closely related to politics. Saddening, but still fun for the whole family.

erosiaart ( ) posted Sat, 13 November 2004 at 11:42 PM

Zak, who decides what's positive or negative? Esp in art? You may create an image..say it's positive.. pple may read it another way..and say it's negative. You may watch tv..have all the good news being shown on tv..you may think it's gonna affect pple..come up with logical reasoning.. 'ah.. they see good, they will do good, therefore..the world will turn into a good place.' Hobbes, Locke, Rouseeau all agreed that man by nature is a reckelss being, for.. yes..like you say.. ghosts are not personal..but a social fact. You were born..without any limitations to anything in this world or life. Your limitations were brought upon you by society..who told you..don't do this, don't do that. If we were born free..and shown only good on tv.. or that all our gov't were good, all art form shown were good, arn't we creating a one sided human being? One who cannot distiguish between good or bad? Art..in it's purest state..is politics..yes..for politics controls a man's thinking..a man's way of life..a man's natural development. Art becomes an expression of his call for what he was when he was born.. his natural state. look at your art..I don't mean the spaceships..or anything..I mean..'your purpose' behind creating images..not what you show in it. Damn.. a black dot cld mean a zillion things to pple. Go beyond that..to the overall reason behind you getting creative. It's never for the good of all. It's always.. 'being me'. And don't be afraid to admit it..most famous artists knew the truth. "Bush observing is now an art form, very closely related to politics" says Moon. Moon..LOL!

dougocd ( ) posted Sun, 14 November 2004 at 12:22 AM

Moon, you are young, I will give you that LOL...Concealed weapons carried by LAW ABIDING citizens make states safer. That's a fact. The automatic weapons bill didn't BAN automatic weapons, it banned a few things on the weapons themselves, such as a scope and other silly things that don't make the weapon any less powerful. Don't believe that Michael Moore drivel. He decieves and outright lies. Do some reading.

Yes, there is a lot of resentment in the world - the president of the United States is just about the most powerful man on earth, his actions effect everyone in every country, and unfortunately there is a widely-held perception 'abroad' that Bush is a moron, and that it's dangerous to have him in charge of ANYTHING. It's just one of those things - to you he's charismatic, to other nationalities he's.....ummmmmm ummmmm ummmmm...nope, there isn't a polite way of putting it.

Yeah Yeah Yeah just ignore the small historical contextual facts that leviticus is speaking of male prostitutes who "worked" at temples to false gods. So we can all justify our own bigotry today.

Anyone who thinks that God says that two consenting loving adults sharing their lives together is abomination, is just wrong. P.S. That was also MOSAIC law, not "Gods law". Mosaic law has over 613+ laws most of wich require the death penalty for breaching them. Thats something some should keep in mind when they run around advocating instituting the mosaic codes as the laws of the land today. Gods laws are written with his own finger, they comprise the ten commandments, and well to date I see no reference to gays in those.P>Message edited on: 11/14/2004 09:40

I posted it and asked a simple question. IE: If the stuff on that website is true (I never said it was!) Who are we to try to stop an antichrist from coming to power if stopping him would mean God lied when he said that it would happen. Fact: I don't know if a single word of it is true, but it gave me the willies to read all the coincidences in anycase with relation to the numerologies and 666 stuff. So try actually finding out if someone believes something before sticking your foot in your mouth and saying you know what that person believes.

electroglyph ( ) posted Sun, 14 November 2004 at 11:24 AM

Hey guys seriously, I just thought it was a funny bit! The US government stresses the seperation of church and state for just this reason. If you are going to claim biblical authority for some position you have to accept all of the contract, not just the pieces you like. The old testament set up the rules for surfs and servants of God. Christ came and said God wants children not servants. The law condems, while the spirit gives life. The Koran says to cover the woman's face because all women are temptresses and men lust and can't be trusted. The servant wonders immediately what is hidden under the veil. The servant obeys because he fears the beating from the master not out of a genuine attempt to think like God. Christ say's because you are God's child think of every woman as your sister or daughter to protect. There will be no need for veils then. Why do leaders who claim biblical authority always want to drag us back into the old testament when we have a much better deal in the new. Enforce Christianity at the point of a sword and you will have more servants and fewer children of God.

I don't think that's a realistic scenario. I could be wrong, but I doubt these nuts who have killed people in the workplace had concealed weapons permits. Besides, there's always going to be maniacs like that in society, who will just steal a gun. If you were to be robbed, or someone broke into your house, wouldn't you feel safer with a gun? Citizens with guns deter crime too. Criminals don't abide by gun laws.
