Another thing that can help with getting your model's pose better is to set it up in Poser and Z-Flatten it there first. Then import the flatten character and layer it on top of your plane. Depending upon how far away it is- it will cast a subtle shadow on the background- or move it very close (or further away) and you will see no shadows at all- (or just turn shadows OFF).
If E-on can impliment the "Flat Camera" like Poser, then this would be much Easier to set up, obviously. And if the Sky Dome could be rotated 360 degrees- then you could set up this with the IBL White Tile using the Bottom Right MAIN CAMERA VIEW (The the scene would not have to be rotated at all- OR, you can just use a SPOTLIGHT as the main lighting.)
