Er, Java's not Javascript. They are not even close. It was one of those marketing things. But it does support Javascript just fine, thank you. It's that the idjits use a little script to sniff for browser identification string and if it's not explicitly identified as Explorer or Netscape, "it doesn't support Javascript".
