I'm confused myself at this point. I only have three pic type files on my system at the moment. One is a .pic--both Irfanview and PhotoPaint open that one fine. I have two other files that are actually part of a Poser texture package. These are .pict files for the bump maps. Irfanview won't recognize them. PhotoPaint opens them (it gives me an "import into bitmap" dialog) but the resulting image displays some kind of generic Quicktime logo. Poser doesn't choke on them but they never really load or show up on the textures list. Even Quicktime player doesn't recognize them. I have Quicktime 6.3 installed so there may be a newer version. AhHa--I tried an old version of ACDSee32 (v. 2.4)which open the files fine BUT the images are cut off vertically half way down!! In the past, the only .pic files I've had to work with were some thumbnails in Japanese pose sets and I was able to open and convert them with one of the programs--don't remember which one. I can only suggest trying a few different freeware applications that claim to handle pic(t) files and hopefully one will work properly. I'm beginning to think there must be variations in the format or the degree of compatibility of the applications. If you know the source of the files, maybe you can contact the creator and get them to provide jpgs.
